Brown's representatives called the report "10,000% a lie" after Celtics broadcaster Brian Scalabrine said the since-traded star asked out, not through the media, but to the organization.
The simmering back-and-forth between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum picked up an unlikely participant Monday when Celtics TV analyst and SiriusXM radio host Brian Scalabrine waded in with a claim about why Brown ended up on the 76ers.
On his radio show, Scalabrine said Brown "demanded to be traded" from Boston, adding that it happened "not through the media, but to the organization." The comment landed in the middle of an already tense public exchange between the two former teammates, which started last Thursday when Brown posted a cap emoji reacting to a video of Tatum discussing the trade. Tatum responded the next night, telling reporters, "This ain't no f-king Shaq and Kobe, there's no beef." Brown agreed Saturday, saying there was no beef, just "a little lamb chops and some gravy," while also noting Tatum has "hell of a PR team."
Brown's representatives pushed back hard on Scalabrine's trade-demand claim, calling it "10,000% a lie." Scalabrine then walked back his own report in an awkward live television admission, softening the claim he had made just hours earlier.
