PFT has the Bills, at 5-1, rising from No. 3 to No. 1, something it notes has never happened before for a team coming off a bye. Right behind them, the Jaguars jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 at 4-2, also without taking the field.\n\nThat leaves the previous No. 1, the 49ers, sliding to fourth at 6-1 despite the rankings crediting their bye week timing as a plus after they've turned the ball over eight times in their last three games. The unbeaten Vikings sit at No. 3 at 6-0, with a four-game gauntlet looming, while the Chiefs dropped to No. 5 at 5-1 and reportedly need help at receiver.\n\nFurther down, the Broncos, Seahawks, Bears, Browns and Steelers round out the top ten, with Cleveland and Pittsburgh set to face off Sunday in what the rankings call a potential turning point for the AFC North.\n\nOther outlets framed the week similarly, noting a new No. 1 emerged after several top-five teams lost over the weekend, and that the top ten overall is littered with flaws.","published_at":"2026-10-27T22:20:29.055403+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"PFT's Week 8 NFL 2026 power rankings","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/pfts-week-8-nfl-2026-132942831.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"PFT's Week 8 NFL 2026 power rankings","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/pfts-week-8-nfl-2026-power-rankings"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"NFL Power Rankings: A new No. 1 for Week 8, plus something spooky about each team","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7727004/2026/10/27/nfl-power-rankings-week-8-halloween-spooky/"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"2026 NFL Power Rankings Week 8: Does Anyone Want To Be The Best Team In Football?","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2026-nfl-power-rankings-week-8"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"AFC power rankings for NFL Week 8: Bills jump Chiefs, Browns & Steelers surge, Raiders fall","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/afc-power-rankings-nfl-week-030705894.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NFL power rankings: Bills, Vikings scary at top; 49ers, Patriots, Packers plunge for Week 8","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nfl-power-rankings-bills-vikings-124730020.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NFL Power Rankings entering Week 8: Vikings are last undefeated team, but are they No. 1?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/nfl-power-rankings-entering-week-8-vikings-are-last-undefeated-team-but-are-they-no-1-041510569.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: A new top team emerges after chaotic week","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/week-8-nfl-power-rankings-222926713.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://s.yimg.com/lo/mysterio/api/d9235c740b149631c278374e373646ae1f34c5d40581f069cccc1f6e00bbd86c/lightyear_networkapi/resizefill_w1200_h675%3Bquality_80%3Bformat_webp/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.zenfs.com%2Fen%2Fprofootballtalk.nbcsports.com%2Fcf58938272529cb2a022396f3ccf8541.jpg","credit":"Yahoo Sports","width":1200},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
