A league official phoned 911 after a dispute with the child's parents during a game meant for 5-year-olds.
Police showed up to a youth soccer game in Winter Park, Fla., last Saturday after a league official called 911 over a dispute involving the parents of a 3-year-old player named Nevada Pierre.
According to the New York Post, the call came in around 9:50 a.m. from i9 Sports league director Thomas Hayes, who told the operator a parent was causing a scene. Hayes had asked the family to leave, citing concerns about the child's play, since the boy was reportedly pushing other kids in a league set up for 5-year-olds. The child's mother denied the allegations against her and her son.
The Winter Park Police Department confirmed officers responded and that no arrests were made. Body camera footage of the confrontation has since circulated widely online, turning a small-time youth sports dispute into a bigger story than anyone involved probably expected.
i9 Sports has launched a review of the incident. No further details on the outcome of that review have been released.
