Vikings grind past Colts 16-10, stay unbeaten at 6-0

Harrison Smith's late interception sealed Indianapolis's fifth loss as Minnesota's defense did the heavy lifting again.

The Minnesota Vikings held off the Indianapolis Colts 16-10 on Sunday, leaning once again on a defense that has carried their season. Kyler Murray threw a touchdown pass to tight end T.J. Hockenson early in the fourth quarter, set up by a 35-yard Murray run, then drove Minnesota to a field goal with under two minutes left. Those were the only points scored by either team in the second half.

Indianapolis managed just 10 points, its fewest in a game this season, despite holding Minnesota to 16. The Colts' only touchdown came in the first quarter on a Jonathan Taylor run, in what was one of his better outings of the year. Quarterback Daniel Jones struggled again, finishing with only 108 passing yards and throwing a game-sealing interception to safety Harrison Smith near midfield with 1:15 remaining, Smith's first pick of the season.

Indianapolis also punted four times, the third time this season they have punted at least that many, and kicker Spencer Shrader missed two field-goal attempts. The loss is Indianapolis's third straight to Minnesota and drops them further into the season's bottom half. The Vikings, at 6-0, head to Detroit in Week 8 looking to stay undefeated.
