After a fourth straight loss, the head coach would not rule out a quarterback change, including a look at Fernando Mendoza.
The Raiders lost again on Sunday, their fourth consecutive defeat, and head coach Klint Kubiak is no longer ruling anything out as he searches for a fix.
Asked directly about a potential quarterback change, Kubiak did not shut the door. "We're thinking about everything to fix our problems," he said, a phrase that covers a lot of ground for a team that keeps finding new ways to lose.
Part of that conversation includes Fernando Mendoza, who Kubiak acknowledged is in the mix as the Raiders weigh options at the position. Nothing has been decided, but the fact that the coach is willing to say the quiet part out loud tells you how far patience has worn down after a month of defeats.
Four straight losses will do that to a coaching staff. The Raiders now have to figure out whether the answer is scheme, personnel, or simply a new arm, and Kubiak's comments suggest the search is ongoing rather than settled.
