The coach added that he hasn't lost confidence in his quarterback.\n\nThe numbers explain the concern. Dating back to the Week 4 win over Washington, Jones has completed just 55 percent of his passes for 787 yards with one touchdown, four interceptions and a lost fumble over his last four games. He's also been sacked 13 times in that span.\n\nSteichen pointed to Jones' track record as the basis for sticking with him. \"He's proven that he can do it. So that's where the confidence comes from,\" the coach said. For now, the job is Jones' to keep as the Colts try to snap their losing streak in Jacksonville.","published_at":"2026-10-26T21:35:31.457639+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Shane Steichen reiterates Daniel Jones is QB1: \"He knows he's got to play better\"","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/shane-steichen-reiterates-daniel-jones-is-qb1-he-knows-hes-got-to-play-better"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts coach Shane Steichen was asked about Daniel Jones' status as starting QB; here's what he said","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-coach-shane-steichen-asked-182914251.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Colts' Shane Steichen has 'not thought' about QB change despite Daniel Jones' struggles","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/colts-bench-daniel-jones-shane-steichen-quarterback/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Colts' Steichen says he's not mulling a QB change despite Jones' struggles","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50281882/colts-shane-steichen-says-not-considering-qb-change"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts coach Shane Steichen was asked about replacing QB Daniel Jones; here's what he said","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-coach-shane-steichen-asked-203235660.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts have not considered QB change as Shane Steichen sticks with Daniel Jones","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-not-considered-qb-change-213702048.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Colts have not considered QB change as Shane Steichen sticks with Daniel Jones","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/colts-have-not-considered-qb-change-as-shane-steichen-sticks-with-daniel-jones"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Steichen weighs in on Daniel Jones status as Colts starting QB","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/steichen-weighs-daniel-jones-status-215149956.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts tried to hide Daniel Jones from Vikings' blitz.
