The Colts coach says he hasn't considered a quarterback change as Indianapolis heads to Jacksonville riding a three-game losing streak.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed Monday that Daniel Jones remains his starting quarterback heading into Week 8 against the Jaguars, despite a rough stretch that has coincided with Indianapolis losing three straight games.
"He knows he's got to play better," Steichen told reporters, according to Mike Chappell of Fox 45 Indianapolis. The coach added that he hasn't lost confidence in his quarterback.
The numbers explain the concern. Dating back to the Week 4 win over Washington, Jones has completed just 55 percent of his passes for 787 yards with one touchdown, four interceptions and a lost fumble over his last four games. He's also been sacked 13 times in that span.
Steichen pointed to Jones' track record as the basis for sticking with him. "He's proven that he can do it. So that's where the confidence comes from," the coach said. For now, the job is Jones' to keep as the Colts try to snap their losing streak in Jacksonville.
