Notre Dame's quarterback used his team's off week to support younger brother Tommy Carr in his first career start for Michigan.
Notre Dame had nothing to do in Week 8, so CJ Carr found something better to do than rest. The Fighting Irish quarterback showed up in person to watch his younger brother Tommy make his first career start at quarterback for Michigan.
The sibling storyline has been building all season. CJ entered 2026 as a Heisman candidate at Notre Dame, while Tommy had to work his way past a five-star recruit to win the job at Michigan. Having two brothers start at quarterback for two of college football's biggest rivals at the same time is the kind of thing that does not happen often, and it made CJ's attendance more than just a nice gesture between family.
With Notre Dame idle, CJ had the rare chance to be a spectator instead of a starter, and he used it to be in the building for a milestone in his brother's career. Tommy's first start drew attention well beyond South Bend and Ann Arbor because of exactly whose brother he is.
