Valkyries even WNBA Finals with grinding Game 4 win over Dream

Golden State shook up its starting lineup and ground out a 67-62 win to tie the series at 2-all.

Golden State needed a change after falling behind 2-1 in the series, so coaches inserted veteran Tiffany Hayes and Kaila Charles into the starting lineup for Game 4. The move added enough disruption to slow Atlanta down, and the Valkyries ground out a 67-62 win to level the WNBA Finals at two games apiece.

The win came against an Atlanta team that had been leaning hard on Angel Reese's dominance inside, a problem Golden State spent the days before the game trying to solve. Rather than chasing a track meet, the Valkyries opted for chaos and physicality, making the game uglier and slower, which suited their personnel better than Atlanta's.

With the series now tied, the two teams head back to San Francisco for the next game. Golden State proved it can win low-scoring, defensive-minded games, while Atlanta will need to find answers for the lineup tweak that threw off its rhythm. The Finals are now a best-of-three, with home court shifting back to the Valkyries.
