Reports now indicate Beasley plans to plead guilty.\n\nThe case centers on a scheme that profited off Beasley's own play on the court, putting his career earnings and reputation under scrutiny. Beasley made nearly $60 million in salaries during his career and had been set to sign a three-year, $42 million deal before he was charged.\n\nDetails of the plea terms, including specific charges and any sentencing recommendations, have not been disclosed. The case adds Beasley to a growing list of figures caught up in gambling-related investigations touching professional sports, with his standing in the league and his once-pending contract now very much in question.","published_at":"2026-10-24T16:05:10.443312+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Ex-NBA player Beasley negotiating plea deal in gambling case","url":"https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/50265720/ex-nba-player-malik-beasley-negotiating-plea-deal-gambling-case"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Malik Beasley to plead guilty","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/malik-beasley-plead-guilty-122759525.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Malik Beasley to plead guilty in gambling scheme that profited off his play","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7717625/2026/10/24/malik-beasley-nba-gambling-case/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Ex-NBA player Malik Beasley negotiating plea deal with Department of Justice in illegal sports betting case","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/malik-beasley-plea-deal-department-of-justice-illegal-sports-betting/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Malik Beasley reportedly plans to plead guilty in federal NBA gambling case","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/malik-beasley-reportedly-plans-plead-164654837.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://a4.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2026%2F0701%2Fr1683045_1024x576_16%2D9.jpg","credit":"ESPN","width":1024},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
