Aikman made the comments to Mike Fisher of Cowboys Roundtable, saying he would have lunch, breakfast or dinner with Jones any time, job interview or not.\n\nThe remarks follow reports of tension between Aikman and Monday Night Football partner Joe Buck, including an alleged argument before a recent Rams-Bills game, and word that Aikman has no formal, ongoing agreement to consult for the Dolphins. Buck recently signed a six-year extension worth more than $100 million to stay at ESPN, while Aikman is in the final year of the five-year deal he signed in 2022, with no extension yet in place.\n\nJones, speaking Wednesday at the conclusion of the NFL owners meeting in New York, said he is following Aikman's situation with ESPN. Aikman has talked for years about wanting to work in an NFL front office and became a Dolphins consultant last year while still calling games for Monday Night Football.","published_at":"2026-10-24T21:33:56.314364+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Front Office Sports","publisher":"Front Office Sports","title":"Troy Aikman Says He’d Consider Role With the Cowboys","url":"https://frontofficesports.com/article/troy-aikman-says-hed-consider-role-with-the-cowboys/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Never Been Wowed by His Insights’ — NFL Analysts Get Brutally Honest About Troy Aikman’s Flaws Ahead of Cowboys Legend’s Rumored ESPN Exit","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/never-wowed-insights-nfl-analysts-170527073.html"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Troy Aikman open to reunion with Jerry Jones, Cowboys","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/troy-aikman-open-cowboys-reunion-jerry-jones.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"With Troy Aikman possibly exiting broadcasting, he extends an olive branch to Jerry Jones","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/with-troy-aikman-possibly-exiting-broadcasting-he-extends-an-olive-branch-to-jerry-jones"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Cowboys Troy Aikman Reveals Jerry Jones Truths in EXCLUSIVE: 'I'd Welcome It!'","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/cowboys-troy-aikman-reveals-jerry-011141418.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Troy (Aikman) Would Save Us,’ ‘Make the Call’ — Fans React As Jerry Jones Dodges Question About Cowboys Legend Potentially Joining Front Office","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-save-us-call-035655131.html"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Troy Aikman realizes broadcasting career ‘could very well be taken away’","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/troy-aikman-broadcasting-career-could-be-taken-away.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Troy Aikman realizes broadcasting career ‘could very well be taken away’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-realizes-broadcasting-career-130044826.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"With Troy Aikman possibly exiting broadcasting, he extends an olive branch to Jerry Jones","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-possibly-exiting-broadcasting-135426855.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Troy Aikman open to reunion with Jerry Jones, Cowboys","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-open-reunion-jerry-160006278.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Troy Aikman Says He’d Consider Role With the Cowboys","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-says-d-consider-184408521.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://frontofficesports.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/2023-10-16T233537Z_1403960904_MT1USATODAY21663827_RTRMADP_3_NFL-DALLAS-COWBOYS-AT-LOS-ANGELES-CHARGERS-scaled-e1792867092456.jpg?quality=80&w=1024","credit":"Front Office Sports","width":1024},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
