The comment comes as reports swirl of a rift with broadcast partner Joe Buck and an uncertain future at ESPN.
Troy Aikman says he realizes his broadcasting career "could very well be taken away from me," and that he would consider a role with the Cowboys if owner Jerry Jones wanted him. Aikman made the comments to Mike Fisher of Cowboys Roundtable, saying he would have lunch, breakfast or dinner with Jones any time, job interview or not.
The remarks follow reports of tension between Aikman and Monday Night Football partner Joe Buck, including an alleged argument before a recent Rams-Bills game, and word that Aikman has no formal, ongoing agreement to consult for the Dolphins. Buck recently signed a six-year extension worth more than $100 million to stay at ESPN, while Aikman is in the final year of the five-year deal he signed in 2022, with no extension yet in place.
Jones, speaking Wednesday at the conclusion of the NFL owners meeting in New York, said he is following Aikman's situation with ESPN. Aikman has talked for years about wanting to work in an NFL front office and became a Dolphins consultant last year while still calling games for Monday Night Football.
