The Brewers right-hander's opening pitch of Game 1 of the 2026 Fall Classic registered 103.5 mph, setting a new record for the fastest pitch thrown in World Series history.\n\nThe previous mark had stood since 2016, and Misiorowski needed exactly one pitch to erase it. It was his first World Series appearance, and he used it to immediately put his velocity on display for a national audience.\n\nThe record throw instantly became the headline moment of the night before the game had even settled into a rhythm. For a pitcher known for his high-octane fastball, the moment was less a surprise than a formal introduction on the sport's biggest stage.\n\nNo further details on the rest of his outing were included, but the record itself ensures Misiorowski's name is now attached to a piece of World Series history regardless of how Game 1 ultimately played out.","published_at":"2026-10-24T21:50:56.224417+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski’s first pitch of 2026 World Series sets historic velocity mark","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/23/sports/brewers-jacob-misiorowskis-2026-world-series-first-sets-historic-mark/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Brewers' Misiorowski unleashes 103.5 mph pitch to set World Series record","url":"https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/50261786/brewers-jacob-misiorowski-sets-world-series-velocity-record-first-pitch"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Jacob Misiorowski sets World Series velocity record with first pitch of Game 1","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7718583/2026/10/23/world-series-brewers-jacob-misiorowski-velocity-record/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski sets World Series velocity record on his first pitch","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/brewers-jacob-misiorowski-sets-world-002611396.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Fastest pitches in World Series history: Jacob Misiorowski breaks record on first pitch of Game 1","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/fastest-pitches-world-series-history-002446465.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
