Fever fire GM Amber Cox in front-office overhaul

The move comes hours after team president Kelly Krauskopf stepped down, following Indiana's first-round playoff exit.

The Indiana Fever have fired general manager Amber Cox, according to people familiar with the move who were not authorized to speak publicly before an official announcement. The firing came just hours after the team announced that president Kelly Krauskopf had stepped down from her position, making for a dramatic reshuffling of the franchise's leadership in a single day.

The shakeup follows Indiana's first-round playoff loss and signals that ownership wants a different direction at the top. With Caitlin Clark anchoring the roster, the Fever have made no secret of their ambition to become a championship contender, and front-office stability clearly was not viewed as compatible with that goal this offseason.

No successor has been named for either Cox or Krauskopf. The scope of the overhaul, two top executives gone on the same day, suggests the Fever are prepared to rebuild their front office from scratch as they figure out how to build a roster worthy of their star point guard.
