LSU coaching legend Dale Brown dies at 90

Brown won 448 games over 25 seasons and led the Tigers to two Final Fours, coaching stars like Shaquille O'Neal and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

Dale Brown, the winningest basketball coach in LSU history, has died at the age of 90.

Brown spent 25 seasons leading the LSU program, racking up 448 career wins, the second-most in SEC history. He guided the Tigers to two Final Four appearances, in 1980 and 1986, cementing his place as a Hall of Fame coach.

Among the players who came through his program were Shaquille O'Neal and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, two of the most recognizable names to wear an LSU uniform. Brown's tenure helped build LSU basketball into a program capable of competing on the national stage, and his win total still stands as the benchmark for the school nearly three decades after he stepped away from the sideline.

Brown's death closes the book on one of the defining coaching careers in LSU athletics history, leaving behind a legacy measured in Final Four banners and the players who credit him with shaping their careers.
