The Brewers announced the 33-year-old right-hander made their World Series roster despite not having pitched in a game since July 4 because of a shoulder injury that at one point looked like it would require season-ending surgery.\n\nWoodruff took the roster spot of Chad Patrick as Milwaukee and Tampa Bay submitted their World Series rosters Friday ahead of Game 1 in Milwaukee. It is the latest twist in what has become a remarkable comeback for Woodruff, the Brewers' longest-tenured player, who debuted with Milwaukee back in 2017.\n\nWoodruff said he told the club he didn't want a spot just to have one, but only if he could actually help the team chase a title. \"It would mean a ton,\" he said Thursday about the chance to pitch in the World Series for the first time. \"This is why I play. The playoffs are my jam, per se. I love this time of year. I love pitching in the big moments.\"\n\nHe now gets that chance against the Rays, with Game 1 set for Friday in Milwaukee.","published_at":"2026-10-23T21:20:16.299438+00:00","source_count":6,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Brewers’ Brandon Woodruff breaks silence
