LeBron brushes off Trump's demand for anthem apology

Trump called James a "total disgrace" over anthem-time golf swing and shooting motions, but James called it a slow news day and stood still through the next anthem.

LeBron James is not losing sleep over Donald Trump's latest grievance. The 76ers star responded briefly to reporters Thursday night after Trump demanded he apologize for his behavior during the national anthem, calling the whole episode a "slow news day at the office," according to ESPN.

The controversy traces back to Tuesday's 76ers season opener against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, where video showed James appearing to mimic a golf swing and a shooting motion while standing with teammates during the anthem. Trump shared the clip Thursday, accusing James of disrespecting the country and branding him a "total disgrace" while demanding an apology.

James offered none. Instead he delivered his dismissive response and moved on. By Thursday's game between the 76ers and Cavaliers, James stood still through the anthem, a notable contrast to the moment that set off the latest round of criticism from the president, who has clashed with James over similar issues before.
