Two losses later, both by identical 27-24 scores against Oklahoma and Florida, the Longhorns are out of room for error. History is not on their side either, since the College Football Playoff has yet to admit an at-large team with more than two losses that did not play in a conference championship.\n\nOle Miss, meanwhile, has lost just once, to Florida, and looks well positioned heading into the matchup. With Oklahoma struggling elsewhere in the conference, and home dates against Georgia and Auburn still to come at Oxford, a win over Texas would put the Rebels in solid shape for the rest of the season.\n\nElsewhere in Week 8, Indiana looks to bounce back after its first loss since 2024, a 19-15 defeat to Ohio State, when Michigan comes to town. The Wolverines sit at 4-2 straight up. Houston and Utah round out the marquee matchups, with that one expected to provide late-night drama.\n\nOle Miss closes its schedule with four of its final five games at home, with only one road trip sandwiched in between, giving the Rebels a favorable path down the stretch.","published_at":"2026-10-23T21:48:02.485912+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"College football picks: Predictions against the spread, odds, betting lines for top 25 games in Week 8","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-picks-predictions-spread-odds-betting-lines-top-25-games-week-8/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Ole Miss vs Texas Prediction: Win Or That's It","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ole-miss-vs-texas-prediction-205022620.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"College football Week 8 top 10 games: Ole Miss-Texas, Houston-Utah and Indiana-Michigan","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7714395/2026/10/23/college-football-top-games-week-8/"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"2026 College Football Week 8: Best Games To Watch This Weekend","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/2026-college-football-week-8-best-games-watch-weekend"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"College football score predictions for Week 8, 2026: Model backs Texas (-3.5) against Ole Miss","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/betting/news/college-football-score-predictions-top-picks-bets-for-week-8-2026/"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"College Football Week 8 Expert Picks, Predictions For Texas-Ole Miss And More","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/college-football-week-8-expert-picks-predictions-texas-ole-miss-more"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Ole Miss Vs.
