Milo Yiannopoulos was detained by the Department of Homeland Security and deported from the United States to the United Kingdom. According to BBC News, DHS said he "was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge on July 22, after failing to show up for his immigration hearing,"1 and would remain in custody pending deportation. DHS has said the removal order stemmed from Yiannopoulos overstaying his visa since 2019.
The Hill reported that White House border czar Tom Homan said federal immigration enforcement authorities "get them out quick"2 after officials detained and swiftly deported far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos last week.
The Guardian's headline noted that Tom Homan denied the British far-right commentator, who was deported one day after arrest, got preferential treatment. The Guardian also described him as an "alt-right" agitator and former Trump backer who is said also to be too extreme for Reform.
Reaction on the right split over Yiannopoulos's political standing. The Daily Wire quoted conservative podcaster Benny Johnson saying on X, "Milo is not 'Far-Right.' Milo was working for the Left to divide, slander and lie about Trump's coalition to break it apart."3 Johnson, as quoted by The Daily Wire, added that days after Charlie Kirk was murdered, Yiannopoulos accused Kirk of being gay and cheating on Erika, calling it an "Evil, sick lie. Zero remorse. Zero evidence. Pure sewage and slander."3
The Daily Wire also reported that right-wing influencer Laura Loomer, who has long raised questions about Yiannopoulos's immigration status, took to social media to celebrate his detention and pointed to her previous claim that he arranged a "sham marriage" with a man to remain in the United States.
