Rubio Uses Terrorism Law To Ban Secure Email Service

The U.S. State Department and Treasury designated the Italian tech collective Autistici/Inventati as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist group on Wednesday, making it illegal for Americans to conduct transactions with it. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the group's services were used by Antifa cells in the U.S. and abroad, and the State Department linked it to groups such as Rose City Antifa, Stop Cop City, Against Beltway Fascism, Unravel, Boston Melt, Philly Anti-Capitalist, and the Revolutionary Anarchist Liberation Front, which it says doxxed or targeted ICE and DHS personnel, police, business owners, and Heritage Foundation staff. The State Department also said a user of the group's infrastructure published communiques for organizations including Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and that the Kurdistan Workers' Party used the collective's services. Autistici/Inventati denied the allegations and said it would continue providing its services. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration would target financial and logistical support for such groups, and the designation followed Trump's 2025 designation of Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.
