Ted Cruz has signaled he is open to a run for president in 2028. According to the Washington Examiner, Cruz said "I'll certainly be part of the discussion."1
The Daily Wire reported that Cruz also said "It's no secret that I want to be president."2
President Trump was asked about a potential Cruz run and offered praise without committing to an endorsement. The Daily Wire quoted Trump saying "Yeah, I would say that he's very talented. He's a very good friend of mine. I think he might do that. Yeah, he's a very talented, he's a talented guy."2
The Washington Times reported Trump's remarks somewhat differently, quoting him as saying "I would say that he's very talented. He's a very good friend of mine. I think he might do that. He's a talented guy."3
The Washington Times also quoted Cruz describing his own presidential ambition, saying "This is a bug that history has proved is rarely ended."3
