Rep. Riley Moore (R-W.Va.) said he supports abolishing the H-1B work visa program and the related Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, arguing they let companies replace American workers with lower-paid foreign labor. Moore told Fox News Digital there is a quiet but growing group of Republican colleagues who share this view. He cited Microsoft's Xbox division layoffs of 1,600 workers despite Microsoft being approved for 2,273 H-1B visas this year, and noted President Trump had sought to impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B applications, which a federal judge struck down as an improper tax. Moore also told Breitbart News that, in his view, legal immigration is in some ways worse than illegal immigration for ordinary Americans.
