Five Australian rules footy players suspended amid police investigation
Five Sydney Swans AFL players have been suspended for the rest of the 2026 season after Victoria Police opened an investigation into a reported sexual assault at Melbourne's Pullman Hotel in the early hours of Monday morning, in the hours after the team's win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The club, whose chief executive is Matthew Pavlich, said the players breached its standards by drinking later than accepted and bringing women to the hotel, and separately reported the matter to police. No one has been arrested or charged, and police say the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
