Pistol in lake could be linked to unsolved killings of British family

British tourists discovered a Luger pistol in Lake Annecy in eastern France, and investigators are forensically analysing the weapon as a possible lead in the unsolved 2012 murders of the al-Hilli family and a French cyclist near Chevaline. Saad al-Hilli, his wife Ikbal, and her mother Suhaila al-Allaf were shot dead on a road near Annecy in September 2012. Fragments from the pistol's butt allowed police to identify the weapon as a Luger P06, in what is described as the latest in a series of potential leads in the long-unresolved case.
